Memorial Topf & Söhne
Exhibition:
Die Mädchen von Zimmer 28, L 410 Theresienstadt -
Gedenkstätte Topf & SöhneFrom the Press-release of the New Art Gallery:
The Girls of Room 28 is a remarkable story that follows a group of young Jewish female prisoners who once lived together in Room 28 in the Girls Home, L 410 within the Theresienstadt Ghetto.
From about 50 girls who passed Room 28, fifteen survived the Holocaust. Today there are only four remaining survivors from the group.
The exhibition has been shown in many places in Germany and across Europe and in Brazil. It developed into an international cultural and educational project.
The 27 January 2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, with events taking place across the country and also in Cardiff's Art Central Gallery.
A special Thanks to Nicola Tucker and Tracey Harding.
Nicola is our partner for organisation and coordination of the exhibition in the UK and has co-curated the exhibition together with Tracey Harding, manager of the New Central Gallery.
The Vale of Glamorgan Council annually commemorates Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January. This year’s theme is 'Stand Together' set by the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.
We are happy to announce that the Art Central Gallery in Cardiff chose The Girls of Room 28 as their contribution to the Holocaust Memorial Day.
