An international exhibition, a story about children in the Holocaust and a lesson about the importance of art, culture, creativity and human values.
Hannelore Brenner, Karen Zolko, Dodi Chansky
It is one of our aims to realize a new exhibition for Great Britian and the United States, a synthesis of the original exhibition (2004) and the exhibition newly designed by Karen Zolko in 2014 for Brazil. While the original version exists of panels and a reconstruction of Room 28 only, the Brazilian version includes a supportive system and ambitious architectural arrangments which incorporates the specific space to make a visit of the exhibition a vivid experience.
The German version as well as the Czech, French and English version, were made with a minimum of budget.
A lot still needs to be done to make the exhibition the way it is conceived. Due to lack of money this could not be done until today.
There is a rich audio-and film archive in the ownership of Hannelore Brenner waiting to be explored and turned into audio-and film installations for our exhibition and to be integrated in our educational project. And there are many more ideas waiting to be realized.
In 2007 the NPO Room 28 e.V. was founded in Berlin/Germany to support the project with "The Girls of Room 28". The idea was to develop this organization into a strong sponsering association for the Room 28 Educational Project in order to guarantee its survival in the future.
We wish to explore with interested parties new ideas and possibilities. Presently we favour two options:
a) to find an organization ready to create with us a new exhibition and develop with us the educational project;
b) to find for the realization of our dream-project: a permanent home for the exhibition - in Sao Paulo or elsewhere in the world.
Room 28 Projects and the international Room 28 Educational Project is presented in the brochure: Theresienstadt. The Girls of Room 28. Compendium 2017. Room 28 Educational Project. More information on:
